History

majimoto.net is the commercial result of a non-profit oriented project initiated by Paul Kremer and Urs Zimmerli. Originally, the intention was to have a private server with a some hosted webpages to relieve the burden of cost. The community grew constantly and people liked the service. At some point, we decided to go commercial with an improved service.

The original project spurious.biz still persists and is now sponsored by majimoto.net.

Vision

We think that transparency is the key to trust and good relationships. Therefore, we are not hiding what technologies we use. Absolute transparency is impossible, but we are trying hard to make you feel "with us", just as a co-operating team, instead of the usual disrespect-relationships in today's IT landscape.

We support the idea of Open Source Software (OSS) and build all our services exclusively upon OSS software. Sometimes, when we code our own software, we make it available to the OSS community, although that happens rarely in real life, because the software we need is highly specialized, and as such, not of use to anyone else.
